Paul Came
Founder and Managing Partner

     Paul Came co-founded Came|Sweeney in 2002 after having been in the executive recruiting business for many years. Earlier he was in the Healthcare and the Higher Education practices of Heidrick & Struggles for nine years and then in the Healthcare, Higher Education and Not-for-Profit, and the Industrial practices of another large global search firm.
     Prior to joining the executive recruiting industry he worked for several years in basic research at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Rockefeller University and then moved to the pharmaceutical industry with Schering-Plough Corporation and Sterling Drug. He was responsible for research and development, quality assurance, strategic planning and budgeting. He then served as President of HEM Research (now Hemispherx Biopharma) which was engaged in the production and marketing of biologics, pharmaceuticals and diagnostic reagents. His responsibilities spanned all facets of general management including manufacturing, quality, regulatory affairs, clinical research and sales and marketing.
     He is primarily engaged in conducting senior managerial and leadership level assignments for universities, industrial manufacturers, not-for-profit organizations, and healthcare companies. His clients are emerging growth companies as well as Fortune 200 companies, small colleges and large universities, and medical centers.
     Paul Came received an undergraduate degree from St. Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire, an M.S. from the University of New Hampshire and a Ph.D. from Hahnemann University, now Drexel University College of Medicine. He served as a board member of two biotechnology firms and as a member of the President’s Council of the Museum of Science & Industry of Chicago and the Union League Club of Chicago’s Civic Affairs Committee.


Peter Sweeney
Founder and Managing Partner

     Peter J. Sweeney is a Managing Partner and co-founder of Came|Sweeney, and is based in the firm’s Chicago office. With more than 30 years of search and senior marketing experience, Mr. Sweeney has assisted a variety of publicly and privately held companies in recruiting executives to top-level general management and key line and staff positions. His search practice includes an emphasis on several areas: industrial (both discrete manufacturing and process industries), private equity, business services and digital commerce and media. Among his clients are emerging and growth companies like Littelfuse, Glencoe Capital, Quirky, Duro Bag, Madison Capital and National Materials, as well as respected global leaders like Stora Enso, Navistar, Danaher, IDEX, and Tootsie Roll.
      Mr. Sweeney began his career in executive search with another international firm where he was Executive Vice President and a member of the senior operating committee. More recently Mr. Sweeney was a Partner at Ray & Berndtson’s industrial products and services practice. Mr. Sweeney brings to his career in search, over 20 years of senior marketing experience coupled with significant assignments in operations and strategic planning at major North American paper manufacturers. Mr. Sweeney was Vice President, Sales–Corrugated Packaging at Domtar, Inc., a $2 billion forest products company, where he directed an 80-person sales group. Earlier at Domtar, Mr. Sweeney was Vice President, Marketing and Strategic Business Development of the Specialty Fine Paper Division where he authored the strategic plan and executed sales and marketing programs to turn around the division and return it to profitability.
      Before Domtar, at the Crosse Pointe Paper Division of Pentair, Inc., Mr. Sweeney chaired the product development effort and directed the Midwest, Canadian, and National Accounts sales efforts. Prior to Pentair, Mr. Sweeney directed the manufacturing operations at a $40 million division of James River Corporation after serving as Director of Sales and Marketing for two years where he sold out the mills’ entire capacity and delivered record profits as a result. Mr. Sweeney began his career in fine paper at Champion International where he excelled in several sales assignments and worked on the strategic planning staff. Mr. Sweeney’s career has provided a broad geographical exposure, including New York, Philadelphia, Kansas City, Richmond, Minneapolis, Montreal, Toronto and Chicago.
      Mr. Sweeney, a native of Darien, Connecticut, graduated from The University of Virginia with a B.A. in History. He received his M.B.A. from Columbia University Graduate School of Business with a concentration in Finance and Marketing.
      Mr. Sweeney, resides in Winnetka, Illinois. He is a member of the Winnetka Caucus where he recently served as Vice Chairman. Previously he served as Chairman of the Library Committee and Chairman of the Village Candidates Committee. Mr. Sweeney has been a long time volunteer with the Winnetka Children’s Theatre, an active member in Chicago’s Platform Tennis community and recently joined the board of the United Way of the North Shore. He is also deeply engaged with the University of Virginia’s Jefferson Scholars Foundation.


Larry Rogna
Senior Partner

     Lawrence G. Rogna has been in the Chicago office of Came|Sweeney since 2004. Mr. Rogna brings over 30 years of senior management and consulting experience, including nearly 20 years as a results-proven, business oriented chief human resources executive with progressively expanded responsibilities.
     Mr. Rogna brings a breadth of experience to the practice of retained executive search having solved problems and recruited executives in four different manufacturing sectors; paper and packaging, aerospace and aircraft components, consumer and industrial electrical equipment and construction products and services, as well as prior search and human resources consulting and public sector experience.
     After completing military service, Mr. Rogna began his career at the U.S. Department of Labor, which led to the National Electrical Contractors Association, to CECO, a major construction services and manufactured products company and then McGraw-Edison, a major manufacturer of electrical components.Mr. Rogna co-founded People Management, an entrepreneurial consulting endeavor to assist clients in the start-up of new facilities, improved human resources management and leadership search.
     Joining a client, Rohr Industries Mr. Rogna became Vice President, Human Resources responsible for developing a professional, business oriented human resources staff to support the objective of total organization change for this subcontractor of commercial and military aircraft and aerospace components as the company grew from 6,000 to nearly 14,000 team members.
     Mr. Rogna joined Gaylord Container as Vice President, Human Resources responsible for building the human resources function from the ground up for this manufacturer of paper and packaging products. He became Senior Vice President responsible for development of the company’s resource improvement effort by leading the business planning, human resources, total quality, safety, environmental and purchasing functions. After 14 years of problem-solving, the company was sold in early 2002.
     Mr. Rogna established his own retained search practice and in joining Came|Sweeney blended significant and important philosophical and process concurrence. The majority of his work has been in industrial organizations that make and sell things. Large and small, public and many private organizations with most in the $300mm-3B range.
       A native of Michigan, Mr. Rogna graduated from The University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in industrial psychology and from George Washington University with a master’s degree in industrial administration.


Craig Overlock
Senior Partner

     Craig Overlock has deep and versatile experience in senior level recruiting, having conducted over 200 high-impact assignments in nearly all functional areas. As a veteran recruiter, he also assists clients with assessment tools that are of particular value with complex hiring and organization planning situations.
     With principal focus in the food and beverage sector, Mr. Overlock has recently recruited talented individuals for class-leading client organizations aggressively seeking to strengthen their organizations and market positions. Earlier food industry executive search assignments include high-level, high-profile individuals at various prominent manufacturers or major trade associations including The Coca-Cola Company, Kraft Foods, ConAgra, Welch Foods, Dole, and the Food Products Association (formerly NFPA). His assignments represented most managerial functions including research, quality, scientific/regulatory affairs, supply chain, marketing and human resources.
     Prior to Came|Sweeney, Mr. Overlock was a Managing Consultant at a top tier multinational executive search firm and before that, a Senior Consultant in a diversified, multinational management consulting firm.
     Mr. Overlock received his M.S. degree from Loyola University’s Institute of Industrial Relations (IIR), with concentration in organization development. His professional interests have included the Human Resources Strategy Forum, the Human Capital Institute, and the IIR Alumni Board (of which he also served as President and Director). He is currently the Vice President of the Southern California affiliate of the International Association for Food Protection.
     Mr. Overlock's civic interests include the Union League Club (Chicago) Civic and Arts Foundation; he is a former President of the Mont Calabasas Association, and former Vice President of the Las Virgenes Federation, an association of Calabasas / Malibu area communities dedicated to responsible natural resource management in the Santa Monica Mountains.
