Craig Overlock has unusually deep and versatile experience in senior level recruiting, including 15 years in retained executive search. His considerable practice includes over 150 executive searches for high level, high impact marketing, financial, sales, technology, human resources and general management positions for such prominent clients as Kraft, Delphi Automotive, ConAgra , Blue Cross/ Blue Shield, American Electric Power, R.R. Donnelley, The Marmon Group, The Walt Disney Company, and The Coca-Cola Company. As a veteran recruiter and assessor of high level talent, trained in organization design and development, he also assists clients with assessment tools that are of particular value with extraordinarily complex hiring situations.
Prior to Came Sweeney, Mr. Overlock was a Managing Consultant in the Chicago office of a top tier international executive search firm, where he conducted searches in the consumer, industrial, health care and financial services industries. Before that, Mr. Overlock was a search consultant for a “Big Six” accounting and consulting firm, where he conducted primarily financial, IT, and operations searches for clients in many industries.
In addition to his executive search experience, Mr. Overlock has substantial in-house recruitment experience, having managed the staffing function for Helene Curtis, Inc., a worldwide supplier of personal care products. At HCI he facilitated the professional and executive staffing initiative for the research & development, and manufacturing divisions during the most explosive period of growth and change in the company’s 80-year history. He also designed and presented candidate assessment tools and coaching to managers and executives. |
Other corporate experience includes a stint as head of recruiting for a global industrial equipment company and manager of collegiate and actuarial recruiting for a multi-billion dollar financial services company.
A resident of Calabasas, California, Mr. Overlock was a long time Chicagoan. He received his MS degree from Loyola University’s Institute of Industrial Relations, with concentration in organization development---still an area of great personal and professional interest as he helps clients define and assess human capital gaps and productive solutions.
Mr. Overlock has written articles and delivered presentations on a variety of management topics. He is a member of the Human Capital Institute, the American Marketing Association, and has been active in several other professional organizations. He is a Past President of the Industrial Relations Alumni Board at Loyola.
Mr. Overlock’s many civic interests include supporting charitable foundations such as Alzheimer's Association, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Horizons for Youth. He was involved with the inception of the City of Chicago's Youth Motivation Program / Adopt-a-School, and has helped as a volunteer to rehabilitate homes in depressed neighborhoods. Mr. Overlock is a member of the Union League Club (Chicago) Civic & Arts Foundation, the Past President of the Mont Calabasas Association, and a member of the Las Virgenes Homeowners Federation.
